Release and Restore / Ayurvedic Wellness Center / Tuesdays 5:30pm (75 min)
What does it mean to practice yoga in a way that aligns our inner world with a larger vision of liberation for all beings? Release and Restore invites you to use the tools of yoga to support yourself so that we can respond more compassionately to injustice and harm in the world. With the support of a certified Yoga Therapist, these sessions are trauma-informed and facilitated in a way that supports unhurried movement, agency, and choice.
Each gathering will include:
-invitational sharing as an opportunity to ground and be present with one another, connecting our individual yoga practice to a collective network of support
-adaptable and modified poses to support diverse bodies and abilities
-a balance of more active posture sequences alongside restorative practices and guided rest
-exploring yoga as an engaged practice for collective well-being
While these classes can be beneficial for all, they may be especially supportive for those desiring deeper community, navigating specific health concerns, and/or looking to integrate their personal practice into a greater vision of social change.
This class is offered in-person at the Ayurvedic Wellness Center or livestream via Zoom (EST).

YOGA THERAPY
What is yoga therapy?
Yoga therapy combines modern medicine with ancient wisdom. It is rooted in relationship and a deep commitment to principles of compassion, respect, and individualized support. Instead of adapting one's body or breath to the structure of a yoga class, a yoga therapist meets you where you're at to enhance all aspects of your well-being: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
Yoga Therapy believes that healing happens through trust and a felt sense of safety. The first session (intake) is a time to discuss not only your yoga goals/hopes/desires, but a space for your story to be heard--health history, relationship to rest, relationship to community, areas of joy, areas of overwhelm, and connecting the dots of all these valid pieces.
The second session is often an opportunity to notice (with curiosity) how different physical postures/movements and breath practices feel in your body. What feels spacious? What feels tight or restricted? What feels neutral?
From conversation and collaboration, a yoga therapist will create a program/treatment plan which respects and affirms your story and your body, while fostering well-being and balance.
Conditions that Yoga Therapy can support include:
Long COVID
Trouble with sleep
Digestive Issues
Chronic physical pain
Arthritis
Feelings of anxiety and overwhelm
Heart disease
Burnout recovery
Injury recovery
Cancer support
Chronic Conditions and Illness
Trauma-informed / Anti-Oppressive approaches to healing
Yoga Therapy is not a space for "fixing" or diagnosing physical or mental health conditions. But it is an effective therapeutic tool of support which can work in collaboration with healthcare providers. These tools might include: breath work, accessible movement, guided relaxation, mindfulness, visualization, yoga philosophy and lifestyle support,
Intake is always free of charge and payment plans are available. No one will be turned away because of a lack of funds.
If you’d like to know more, let's connect! I’d love to support the whole of you.
**For transparency, 30% of all payments received for my teachings will be donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds and Color of Change
